Star Wars fans are not feeling the force from the newest merchandise especially after Hasbro released Star Wars: The Force Awakens Monopoly Edition without featuring the film’s main character, Rey, played by Daisy Ridley.
Since the film’s premiere, Star Wars fans have been very vocal about the lack of Rey tie-in toys. Fans took to social media to express their anger about the lack of Rey creating hashtags such as #WheresRey and #WhereIsRey.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Monopoly Edition is the latest merchandise to leave out the franchise’s main character. The game lets you play as Finn, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker, and Darth Vader. Hasbro explained that Rey was left off the board because including her would be a “spoiler.”
“The Star Wars: Monopoly game was released in September, months before the movie’s release, and Rey was not included to avoid revealing a key plot line that she takes on Kylo Ren and joins the Rebel Alliance,” a Hasbro spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly.
This isn’t the first time Disney has come under fire about leaving out the female character from the merchandise. It happened with Gamora with Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Widow in Avenger: Age of Ultron.

The spokesperson added that while Rey is in a handful of Hasbro games, that “fans will see more Rey product hitting store shelves this month, including 6-inch and 12-inch Rey action figures. We are thrilled with the popularity of this compelling character and will continue to look for ways to showcase Rey across all of our product lines,” shared EW.
